John Ford, what a director! When he shot in black and white he used a heavy red filter that pushed the contrast level of the film that made the scene the hi-def of it´s time.
He also went to his grave with 11 pieces of metal from his filming of the Battle of Midway. This and The Quiet Man, are his best color films.
A friend of mine played poker with him, John Wayne, Sam Johnson and others. He lost everything but said it was the best night of his life.

old Ben Johnson. Seems like he was in every old John Wayne western. Always played a scout or loyal sidekick. Never had more than ten lines to say. I always thouht he was a football buddy of Duke's. Then I saw him in "The last picture show" and found out he was a real actor. And a good one.
