Daniel Dale Johnston (born January 22, 1961) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and artist. Johnston was the subject of the 2006 documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston. He currently lives in Waller, Texas.
Johnston has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder which has been a recurring problem throughout his life. One critic from Pitchfork Media writes that Johnston's recordings range from "spotty to brilliant."
Yip/Jump Music is the fifth self-released music cassette album by singer-songwriter Daniel Johnston, recorded over the summer 1983.
Yip/Jump Music is the first album to feature Johnston on the chord organ. It was recorded in his brother's garage in Texas.
"Worried Shoes" was covered by Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O. This version was released on the soundtrack to the 2009 film adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are.
The album featured at number 35 in Kurt Cobain's list of his 50 favourite albums from his journal.
