Wedding Photography - The Cake Shot

This is a shot we usually take to give a different perspective on the Wedding Cake. Its a very straight forward shot but it helps if your tall and have long arms.

How about grabbing a chair instead of shooting like a mad man till you finally get it right. By the time you get the shot you missed the freakin ceremony.

Sometimes it is a better option to grab a chair, sometimes its definitely not the right option or quicker to grab a chair.

If a decent looking chairs available and have time to take your shoes off and theres no danger to the cake then it may be a better option.

Ive shot 50 weddings so far so I am still new to this but one thing I have learnt is that theres no hard or fast rules on what you should do, everyone is different and so you adapt and learn at each one.

Great way to shoot a cake!

I used your technique at my last wedding, it come out better than I thought it would.

I didnt use a chair or ladder, just stood near the cake and took a few shots until I was happy, in real time, took more that 2 minutes to do.
