my lakeland terrier of 17 years had to be put to sleep a few days ago. My family and I are devastated. We got him when I was eight years old and I am 25 now. So it's hard to imagine my life without him being there. He was the most handsome, funny and loyal dog and we have some great memories of him which make us feel a little bit better.

He was still going out for two walks every day even up to a few days before he died. We miss him dearly xx

We saw her and jumped in because she has been at the shelter for most of her life so we did not really get to research this breed but I am now before she comes home.

(we own another dog and they got on fine so we do know about training etc )

we have just adopted a 13 year old Lakeland terrier. (she is coming home in 2weeks)

I have read that there life expectancy is between 12-16, but how much exercise should one give a 13 year old dog? The shelter said 30mins a day, is that enough?

I know they are a working breed and high energy that is the reason I am a bit unsure about just 30mins a day.

what a wonderful tribute to little gizmo. I have a 12 year old lakeland and is almost human. She is the best thing in my life, I cant bear to think of the day when I will lose her. They have so much character and personality they are hulmost human. She can smell an ice cream van a mile away and no way can we pass one until she gets one. May the happy memories of gizmo keep you going. .

Thank you for posting this beautiful tribute to your little guy. Our Lakie died at the age of 14, and we still miss him terribly, too. It was very moving to listen to the words of the music you selected and to see the fire and character in your dog's eyes. Long live our wonderful friends!
