Auburn couldn't get the field goal team on in time to kick a chip shot that would have won it.
I had thought it was a classic first-year communications glitch.

I was in Knoxville that day in those disgusting little postage stamp seats. I love Pat Dye, but game management and sideline control was never his big thing, particularly in his early years. Auburn could have, SHOULD have, won this game. But it paved the way for bigger and better things.
