Discrimination is alive and well in Ontarios Employment Standards Act (ESA)! The student minimum wage affects persons under the age of 18 who work 28 hours a week or less. Today that wage is set at $0.55 less per hour than general minimum wage. As the minimum wage provisions increase over the next couple of years, the gap between the two wages increases as well. By April 2010, the difference between the student minimum wage and general minimum wage will be $0.65 per hour.
Companies like WAL-MART, McDonalds, Cineplex, ETC, participate in
legalized explotation of students, older adults, ODSP recipiants.
Organize your workplace its the only solution against mimmum wage
slavery!

I have a maximum 28 hour work weeks that go from 4 one week to 20 the next. This is not a living wage, so I work three jobs, "but I'm not suppose to contract" and can be fired. Last week when they forced me to come in I almost lost my second job.To them its a game the company makes 20 billion one year the investors want 40 for me I just want to eat and live. Unions suck they are all about $ and them-selfs. If the company go's bankrupt they loose $ so guess who they help not me thats paying them.

Right buddy. Let's just abolish minimum wage won't that help, so every business in the province can hire desperate fools for less, then deserving folks need to compete for those lower paid positions and suffer the drop in quality of life. Then we can all know how it feels to live in a slum. You can read an Econ textbook, but that dosen't mean you understand it. At least we can show the bourgeoisie they don't hold all the cards.

stop the student minimum wage rip-off? how about start ripping off the minimum wage entirely because that kills jobs.
has the NDP (the saviors of this group) read an econ textbook? I'm sure Jack Layton hasn't and I'm sure the rest of the party hasn't either.
