  • @ceramictec -- sorry for the rather late reply -- I had tried to respond before, but youtube rejected it as I tried to link the video in the comment -- you can't mention web addy's in comments. We're really happy with how it's turned out! I've linked both videos as responses to each other, and I've just added the link to the second video in the description for the first video clip. Or, you can browse thru my uploaded videos and find it there.

  • dont worry the folks at john bridge forum told you the correct way, most non updated type shower installers use the old vinyl method and dont realize kerdi is just as waterproof as any vinyl JMHO>Marvin

  • @MystyTheBasset yeah its a really wierd set up. it looks like a system a caveman would comeup with. how did the tile or stone come out?

  • @xz28camaro -- Schluter's KERDI shower system is very different from the traditional vinyl waterproofing done for showers, as you may or may not know. We followed the manufacturer's directions during installation, and found a *lot* of useful info over at the johnbridge website, as they use KERDI. We didn't have the option of using a commercial deck mud mix, so we used a recommended alternative. I guess we'll find out how well we did waterproofing over the next 20 years.

  • first mistake... your supposed to line the shower with aquabar and THEN lath it. second mistake... you dont use playsand in your drypack mix. you buy special drypack already in a bag. most critical mistake... you need to waterproof your shower floor by installing a vinal plastic sheeting under the lath!
