@RNZ1983 Until their 1979 revolution, we (the USA) sold huge amounts of military equipment including Grumman F14 Tomcats to Iran. Much of that equipment is still being used today.

@ebola92 Sorry for jumping into the conversation but if you and the other guy were referring to the fighter that said Navy on the side and was carrying the six big-ass missiles than that jet is an American Grumman F-14 Tomcat. That is the same plane from the movie "Top Gun." When the U.S. was (briefly) allies with Iran we sold them a bunch of Tomcats. Those missiles are the AIM-54 Phoenix and the Tomcat was almost special built just to carry them. (They were for shooting down USSR bombers.)
