Filmed on August 21, 2010 in the Rockaway Park section of Queens. On this day, the New York Transit Museum ran a special fan trip with a vintage train and vintage buses in the Rockaways. Here we see the vintage train - a set of 1930's R1-R9 subway cars entering the Rockaway Park Terminal to pick up passengers for the trip's finale in Manhattan. The consist is as follows: R6 #1000 (1935), R1 #381 (1930-31), R9 #1802 (1940), R6 #1300 (1936), R4 #401 (1932-33), & R4 #484 (1932-33.)

  • Wow the lead unit has a hefty flat wheel. I like vintage equipment; it all seems to be built so much better than modern trains.
