i have this deck with the nav, how do you get the custom 350z backgraound, i have an 06 f150 but still any help would be great, thanks

Just google search dnx 8120 boot screen file (yes I know we have a ddx 812 but it works all the same). Put the jpg file in a root folder. Hold eject while pressing in eject button. Select your jpg file and wala you have a custom start screen :)

I want to purchase this unit but I also have a couple of questions.

1>My friend has the DNX8120 and I tried to use my portable HDD 250GB but it didn't see all of my music. Did you have that problem?

2>How's the SRS wow feature, if it's there?

3>What are your cons about this unit?

I'm comparing this unit with JVC KW-AVX820

which supports MPEG1 and 2 thru the USB***

1. It has a 32gb cap on what it will read

2. I have a 350z so I really haven't delved too much into srs wow because its such a small cabin space. I have my components tuned with an amp not HU so I can't really give you a Ye or Ne on that one.

3. Cons - a. some wma files will not play through usb but will play via Ipod (go figure)

b. can't fast forward when using usb but can with Ipod.

c. No video through usb but can with Ipod

d. basically you need an Ipod lol

I paid a little more than $800 for the whole set up. It does work with the iphone. You can customize screen/background, not buttons.

I was look to purchase the kenwood ddx-812 I wanted to get your input. Right now I have the kenwood ddx 712 model which has 2volt preouts. I notice ddx 812 has five volts preouts. Right now I have four amps with my system 2 for my speakers and 2 for my subs. Do u think there would be a noticeable difference going to that 812 based off the preout difference.

All the Kenwoods are part of a great lineup. All of them have just about the same interface. Screen size is a little bit larger than yours but you have nav installed in your system out the box. I had to come out of the pocket an extra $300 to do so. If you really want to go all out then the dnx8120 is the way to go but it has limited expandability. Pros and cons to each lol. I love em all though
