Bill Clinton was not the only president that was young and poor; Abraham Lincoln was also young and poor, but Abraham, unlike most of his family, likes to learn and was very interested in books. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809; the horrible thing happened is that when Abe was still young, his father died of an unknown cause, as a result Abraham was extremely upset, but he kept reading, and self learning, as he was very curious about things in this world. When Lincoln grew up, he still loved to read books, so he took a test to become a lawyer, and he succeeded on the test. After awhile of being a lawyer, he started to like the world of politics more than the law. While being a lawyer he met a young woman, and soon fell in love, not long after she died of a fever, again Lincoln was devastated, but his hard work was more important as these little "spells." Lincoln's small speeches, he was very hard to ignore these little speeches here and there, as a result he became a professional speaker. He moved to Springfield Illinois, at which time he met a filthy rich woman named Mary Anne Taunt. The second career he took up was being an Illinois Congressman, getting higher than a lawyer. The country was then getting out of hand, there was another state that wanted to join, so there were thousands of debates whether it should be a slave state or free state, as there was an even amount of slave states Free states. In 1858 Lincoln was running for United States Senate, to make his campaign succeed where he was a Senator he said, "The house is divided by people against and for slavery; a house cannot stand that way, it either has to be slave or non slave!" As a result he lost the senate election. Lincoln never wanted to be president of the United States, but the people persuaded Lincoln to run, as he would be a very good choice, and they supported him. He ran, and then by the majority of the vote he was successfully elected. After he got into office, some Confederate angry, rebels attacked Fort Sumter, so the government forced Lincoln to do something about this problem escalating. After 5 years of fighting, it ended with the Gettysburg Address. He signed a law banning slavery, and proceeded to celebrate by watching a play at Fords Theater; the killer John Wilkes Booth worked at the play, and at the climax, when everyone is laughing he would then shoot Lincoln, and as a result Lincoln died of a brain injury on April 18, 1865. He was known for abolishing slavery, but he didn't do it on his own, due to the government forcing him to take this act, which the history books today have all wrong, and in his golden years before he was assassinated, he barely could see, as he read books by dim lights of candle stick at night.
