A guitar doesn't have sound in the upper register he was trying to fix. What is he thinking? He thinks all waveforms should have equal volume from 20Hz to 20KHz? And someone who grabs EQ out of habit isn't a good mixer either. You should cut EQ is possible, rather than boost it. If he had too much in the mids, he should have dialed them back instead of trying to raise the highs up to meet them.
