In 2004, Break Club Battle Entertainment held the first ever annual Redfern Block Party. Since its beginnings, it has helped many youth from the area overcome and turn negative to positive through the formation of a local b-boy crew (The Redfern City Rockers) and participation in b-boy culture.
Local Redfern resident and Break Club director, Scot Doo Rok thought it was time to establish a breaking program for the youth of 'the block' after witnessing the 'Redfern Riots' that was a response to the tragic death of Thomas (T. J.) Hickey after a police pursuit.
Over the years the Block Party has seen historic b-boy battles from many of the best breakers around Australia and the world. Venum, Juse Boogy, Isop, Iron Monkey and Alien Ness have all battled down at the block.
Break Club will be releasing it;s feature Documentary on the event in 2010!
