No, it was in 9 A.D. The Romans didn't look like that in the 5th Century :)

The barbarians/germanians were in the late 5th century with the Romans, so it kinda makes sense to imagine it in -30 B.C. `cause the last 4 men commit suicide, 9 A.D. `cause that`s what you said, & 476 A.D. `cause that`s when the Romans lost a battle with the barbarians.

But the movie is about the Varus Battle which had taken place in 9 A.D. So I can say this piece of history is from 9 A.D. In 476 the Western Roman Empire declined. There was no forest battle like this then. Rom had become weak before until it collapsed in 476.
