The dangers of undertaking

First of all, undertaking is what the mortician does to prepare your corpse for burial. Second, overtaking means passing -- left/right are not relevant to the idea of passing, Third. If you're on a bike in the 'bike lane' position relative to the rest of traffic (the curbmost side of the road), you can't reasonably be called to fault for proceeding in your own lane when traffic to the 'road side' is traveling slower and one of the twits therein decides to cross your lane without looking first.

@RandyDarkshade2 - Definitely. I made sure my wife had all the kit before venturing out onto the streets of London, but I always worry when she peddles off to work. Driving a dustcart for a living, I know just what twats many car drivers can be.

I think wearing a helmet should be law too. I admit I never used to wear a helmet and I;ve been riding 15 or more years, but a close shave this year when a driver almost took me off my bicycle made me get one.

@WheelieMacBin What about registering it using the frame number? All bicycles have a frame number stamped on the underside of the bottom bracket, well, more modern ones do anyway. I'm not too worried about insurance, I don;t ride anything of huge value, just second hand used bikes that have little value. I doubt a bicycle will do much damage to a car, maybe a small dent, scratched paint.....I would take out insurance if it was the law.

@RandyDarkshade2 - For sure, thinking is what makes legislation workable. Could require that all bicycles are fitted with mudguards? The number plates can also be of a smaller size? They actually officially register bicycles on the Channel Island of Sark so it can be done.
-
@WheelieMacBin They put it on the back mudguard. Not all bicycles have mudguards so again, where would they put it? Can't put it under the seat because that would then leave no where to mount the rear light. I'm not the one who needs to think about this.
-
@RandyDarkshade2 - Where do they put it on a moped? You see, all you have to do is think about it before replying to people in a sarcastic way, hey?
-
@WheelieMacBin And where the fuck would you put the registration plate? brainiac. Only thing I agree with you on here is insurance and the training and the MOT type test for the bicycle. I see far too many people riding unsafe bicycles.

@th0r90 You're gay.

@ciara8365 This cyclist was in the cycle lane, the bus driver had no reason to swerve.
im a hgv driver and im fucking sick of wanker cyclists undertaking me on the inside especially at traffic lights in slow traffic, they should fucking wait in a queue in traffic like the rest of us have to.

@ciara8365 If cyclists filter past you then it's perfectly legal to do so. If they "sit in traffic and wait" like you do then surely they're causing more congestion. Logic isn't your strong point, is it? Maybe you should use a bike and relieve all that pent up anger at being stuck in your little cab.

Cycling is gay anyway.

@th0r90 Thanks for your constructive input. I'm guessing you don't get out of Nursery much so just felt you needed to vent a little. Feel better? Good.

Any cyclist getting up the inside of a bus, coach or lorry is on a suicide mission. A lot of the problem is caused by the fact that cyclists are not required to have any kind of training by law, pass any kind of test, or even know the rules of the road. That is something that needs to change, and having to take out third party insurance would be a good idea too, along with an annual bike MOT test. In fact, why not register them too?

@WheelieMacBin Training/passing a test *may* help... but then again car drivers have to pass a test and it doesn't seem to do much for their skill levels at times! ;-)
