Sadie

This is not my tune, but it's mine to use. A cover of Sadie by Joanna Newsom, from the Milk-Eyed Mender album. It's rumoured to be about her dog, but when I saw her play in Melbourne, she insisted that it wasn't.

It might just be that recently I've been over-concerned with how people persist in not trying to turn some imperfections of the purity of their voice or style to their advantage by simply finding the right switch or two. But as for your "Sadie", the overall effect was that of a decent cover. Although it's not for me to say this: keep up.

Nice attempt, man. Much as I'm cautious about "chordy" versions of Joanna Newsom's tunes, yours got me to listen quite enjoyably to the end. I haven't seen any other videos of yours, but maybe you could discover some clever timbre in your voice by fiddling with it a little, like by stylizing, stylizo-twangifizing, don't know, or even warping it a little.
