The saddest part is that the boxing "community" should provide for the care for athletes who become disabled while performing their craft. There should be no donations needed to care for this man. Promoters make millions and should contribute to the health care of injured athletes.

If the G-Man had only walked away from that night healthy, their fight would have gone down in history as one of the greatest ever, and Nigel Benn would be in boxing's Hall of Fame already. Watching the fight, you get the feeling that these were two warriors who were either going to win or die trying. I wish it hadn't come to one of them almost doing so.

This was discusting reffereing ,i am British and i feel this was only a money fight for someone to get so hurt. Its the boxer against the fighter situation, u fight a boxer you box a fighter.

every time I see this I cant help thinking the ref has blood on his hands, probably influanced from the promoters....ablulutley discusting.

Benn as it turned out had the one quality a dog fighter like the G-man searches for in their dogs...GAMELESS... win or lose a game dog never gives up. Benn may or may not have been nearly finished in the 1st round but he came through top dog! God works in meritorious ways. Don King is a low life, as the G-man lay in his corner king was praising Benn for making him a believer in the Dark Destroyer.

excuse my french but that ref was a stinking faggat, he was scared to let the men break up and interfered when McClallan was finishing been in the first round. Its still a tragedy thats a result of the brutalilty of boxing but homo little refs actually make the sport more brutal and dangerous

What would be better would be to do away with private promotions and the miriad governing bodies and create one body to decide rankings, number one contenders and to enforce defences of titles against opponents, rather than allowing promoters to take advantage of fighters or allowing them to pick and chose who they fight based on protecting promoters interests, they could also provide insurance or pensions of sorts for fighters out of the purse or gate revenue of fights, for such cases
