First heard this on The Complete Stone Roses, silly me for arriving so late to the party. I must've air bass-and-solo guitared this (on hairbrush) 500 times at the time. As a song, it's a little bit "unpolished" compared to matured works soon to come, but so what that adds to the charm, here. The essentials are intact: Brown's far-reaching and also breathy vocals, the tight and sassy rhythm section, and John's tremelo-y, satisfying guitar work, like a hand-tossed pizza. Eat up, it's tasty!

I don't think Altrincham, or Stockport or wherever could ever do this song justice. A small damp flat in a block overlooking Salford precinct. 4pm. A Sunday afternoon in October. The precinct looks suitably depressing. You await the love of your life to call. While scallies debase themselves amongst the detritus of the long-forgotten morning market, the words '...Do you *feel* warmer?' reverberate around the empty flat. A phone rings...

@Dbusdriver71 Soo true Like Going Down that is very pretty too! but for some reason he sounds soo differnt now! still good ie 'Set my baby free' which is a belter of a track but it sounds like a differnt person!

Browns voice in this is unreal.

@Dbusdriver71 He's went on to do work with the Gorillaz so I would hardly say you've heard nothing from him

It's okay if you accidentally clicked dislike. You are forgiven.

eran un rato buenos los tios estos....

@InParticularNobody True but it also made him so much more real than, say Damon Alburn. I havn't heard Alburn since he left Blur (more likely they left him) . I'll take my chances with Ian Brown and the Stone Roses, weither Ian is off or not.

@Dbusdriver71 - yeh it IS awesome - but it IS also out of tune some of the time. all part of their charm. best band ever imo. having seen them and king monkey a few times, it was all down to the first note - if he got that right, you were in for a treat. if he missed it by a mile you'd be fooked for that whole song hehe.

love it
Whenever I hear anyone say Ian Brown cant sing I play this tune and laugh. One of several examples of an historic band's earily brillance, you had to of been there at the time. It is as brillant as the day it was first released.
