http://www.ted.com The world is becoming increasingly open, and that has implications both bright and dangerous. Marc Goodman paints a portrait of a grave future, in which technology's rapid development could allow crime to take a turn for the worse.

What can we do about the drug cartels in mexico that's easy end the pathetic prohibition of drugs. Why have we let this get so bad is it because it's not happening in Chicago like it did with alcohol ? Why'd we even start this in the first place? We knew from alcohol that prohibition doesn't work it only creates a black market that strengthens organized crime.
Learn from the past to fix the future what happened to the bootleggers when prohibition was ended ? they were out of a job.

Terrorists kill and murder. Unlike minded individuals disagree. People I think are bad vote for someone I don't like at the poll. Extremists kill individuals who vote at all. People who are stronger than me are sparring partners. Radicals just want me dead.

That's the point, you wont be able to get your own cash out of the ATM without a drone operator zooming in on your ass hole from 20,000 ft above with his finger on the trigger of a hellfire missile ready to blow your family to bits just in case you happen to be associating with opoosers of the US govt aka 'domestic trrorists'

Some of his speculations are far fetched but I liked the point he was making about crime prevention being each individuals responsibility. Anybody care to fill me in on why this video's getting so much hate?

I'm way more concerned about governments and private businesses data mining information than "terrorists".

US might be tempted to crowd source surveillance.( you can be more secure if you told us everything about your neighborhood ). It might be possible if they make citizens of a country desperate enough...kinda like how they capitalized on 9/11 with the patriot act.
Trying to sneak in Big Brother with scare tactics ? ..eh, Mr. Kevin "Good man" Costner ?
