phineus: monome 40h + Reaktor 5

made by phineus in the moment using Reaktor 5 and a patch written by kid sputnik to work with the monome 40h. samples are homemade as well as found. I do a little modulation tweaking offscreen but most everything else is done with the monome controller thru osc. i'm still learning the app so i think there are some mistakes w/ with starting and stopping saved patterns. Bird sounds performed live by local bird. A lot of the low-low sounds are not picked up by the camera mics but try to imagine a big steamroller going by.

you built the midi control from scratch? How did you go about programming it to work like a sequencer?

Go to the website: monome dot org. I bought one of 400 40h units they produced, fully assembled. You can now buy the guts as a kit but must supply the leds, case, and top plate. It communicates via OSC (or midi) with the included software. On the site are a variety of applications written by monome creators and users. In this case I use an ensemble that interfaces the monome with a purpose-built Reaktor instrument. monome is preparing to produce more devices, with varying #'s of buttons.
