I was commissioned to design and create this trophy for Piedmont, California's 4th of July Parade. It will be awarded each year to the neighborhood exhibiting the best float design.

Since Piedmont is a virtual arboretum, I modeled The Saucer after a cross-sectional tree cut. But, instead of concentric rings, the sculptural form actually contains a giant spiral. The mechanism combines an antique hand drill, bike parts, and industrial mechanics.
