  • is this Yogyakarta or Surakarta style? The gamelan sounds like from Solo/Surakarta, but the costume somehow looks like from Yogya. It looks like Srimpi too. The head piece could have been better, but it is a nice try!

  • Duh, aku kurang tau persisnya. Soalnya aku cuma video-in buat temanku.

  • For all I know, golek sri rejeki is a Surakarta Style Dance.

Originally, golek dance adopted from Yogyakarta, brought to Sunan Palace by married between two royal families. That's way the costume looks like Yogyakarta dancer, but we can see the difference in her "sampur" (sash). Solo dancers use transparent 'sampur', but Yogya dancers use 'cinde sampur'.

Were the dancer and gamelan players beginner? Keep dance and play, guys.

    Very good clip.

  • Well done. Much poise and grace. This is one of the few quality videos of Javanese dance I've been able to find here.

Was she dancing in the rain do you know?

    Thank you for sharing.

  • great!
