HD: Great Trains in the Rain at Woodbourne *April 12, 2011*

On April 12, 2011, Southeast Pennsylvania and surrounding areas suffered a period of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Of course, the trains were still running, so we were still headed out. By the way things work, the best trains seem to run in the rain.

4:06 PM -
CSX Q706-12 throttles up eastbound through Woodbourne just before the rain started with the one unit wonder, CSX GP40-2 6138, for power with a great K5 (?) horn.

5:27 PM -
NS Loaded Coal 502 makes another appearance headed east into Morrisville in a light shower, with NS ES40DC 7688, NS CW40-9 8905, and NS SD60 6626 throttling nicely.

5:45 PM -
With an umbrella in one hand, still camera in the other, SEPTA 6374 heads east with Comet I cab 2461 and SEPTA ALP-44 2308, SEPTA's only ALP-44. This was the only push-pull run filmed that night.

5:53 PM -
The rain gets heavier as SEPTA 376 heads east with a trio of Silverliner II's.

6:40 PM -
The rain was at it's heaviest, so we headed under the Morrisville Line for Q439-12, seen headed west with CSX SD70AC 4706 and CSX AC44CW 287 giving everything they got to move the 568 axle train, with a friendly crew on board.

7:11 PM -
CSX X086-12 lite engines head east with CSX CW40-8 7663, CSX SD40-2 8094, CSX SD70AC 4709, and CSX ES40DC 5400 with another friendly crew. The later two engines are from Q190 on Saturday.

The rain has mostly ended as SEPTA 386 comes east with Silverliner II's and III's.

Excellent video Dan. The K5 on 6138 sounds incredible! I can't tell whether it's a K5H or a fouled K5LA though. I can definitely tell that 7663 has a K5H though.
