My friend Mickey wanted some sturdy shelves built in her garage. So being the "Jane of all trades" that I am, I volunteered for the job!

Mickey, I hope you & Tom enjoy them for years to come :)
Have fun watching the project unfold!

Since I've been asked for plans and particulars, I uploaded my original sketch and price list on GoogleDocs:

Thanks for stopping by and watching! :)

  • @aquaphoenix831 nice job on the shelves, and ending gave me a chuckle.. great vid

  • @jtpopetx Thanks! My motto is "If you're not having fun, you must be doing something wrong" :)

  • Why didn't you test the strength of the 4th and 5th tiers???

  • @jeffbr19 I thought about it...I didn't want the ladder in the shots, so had to shinny feet first into tier 3. I tried to shinny into tier 4, but it put me into a handstand! :D

  • Think those shelves would hold a heavy load of stuff like leafblower/kids sports toys/tools/etc? I ran across a kit from diygarageshelf for cheap but I am looking for cheap/free alternatives as long as it is sturdy and holds up (got kids around the house and dont want any off them getting hurt or anything!)

  • Why did you make the uprights taller then the shelves?

  • nice job

  • @SkyHighPyro Glad I lit a fire of inspiration under you ;) Post a pic, would love to see!

  • @jtpopetx the width between the verticals is 21". The shelves themselves are 24".

Since I've been asked for plans and particulars, I uploaded my original sketch and price list on GoogleDocs. YouTube won't let me past URL here, so check out my description area for link. Thanks for watching! :)

  • @aquaphoenix831 one question, what depth measurement did you use? it looks like you did more than 12ins, was it 18ins?
