@qazmatron This one is abridged (something I don't like), whereas the other version is just thoroughly (and pointlessly) paraphrased (something I really don't like, and don't understand). Also the scene added in the other version, where one of the aliens kills the human, well.. it seems contradictory to the alien's attitudes.
In case anyone is interested this is from a story called "Alien/Nation" by Terry Bisson, first published in /Omni/ in 1991.

I love how the actual humans in this diner are busy acting like total idiots while the extraterrestrials go on about what stupid meat piles we are. Case in point:
"The brain does the thinking. The meat."

I love that. It puts a lot of perspective on how infantile our species is by telling the story through the perspective of the aliens.
