A tribute to the underrated 1988 Terry Gilliam (Brazil, Time Bandits, Monty Python) film, "The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen", starring John Neville, Eric Idle, Jonathan Pryce, Winston Dennis, Jack Purvis, a very young Sarah Polley, a teenage Uma Thurman, Oliver Reed, Robin Williams, Valentina Cortese, Sting, and a host of other all-star talent.

"The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen" is the fantastic tale of a 17th century aristocrat, his talented henchmen and a little girl in their efforts to save a town from defeat by the Turks. Being swallowed by a giant sea-monster, a trip to the moon, a dance with Venus and an escape from the Grim Reaper are only some of the improbable adventures the group must face.

Featuring music from the Michael Kamen score ("The Munchausen Waltz").

  • RIP John Neville. 1925 - 2011. The Baron is dead.

  • @Aaron1912 I am sincerely heartbroken. A friend of Mr. Neville had seen this video a few years back, and showed it to John and his wife. From what I remember, John wanted to get in touch with me. He was busy filming in Canada at the time - and I was wrapped up in work as well, so communication dropped off. I had a rare picture from the film for him to sign, but after losing contact, I never got to send it. I truly, deeply regret it. He was a sweet, wonderful man, and will truly be missed.

  • I love this film!

I have a question, what's the title of the first music in this video ?

  • It is a snippet from the "Venus and Vulcan" track on the movie soundtrack. You hear it in the movie when Venus' shell is rising from the water :)

  • how do i get my hands on this song (how did you?)

  • @boswellchrome The soundtrack is sometimes found on Ebay. ;)

  • Real visionary cinema at its best!

  • A very underrated film the bad press mainly came because the film went over budget. I was the Sound Boom Operator

  • So sad. I have uploaded a tribute to John on my channel. RIP.

  • R.I.P John Neville. I have always loved you as Baron Munchausen. You and this movie will always have a place in my heart.

  • the first movie to cost over a hundred million to produce

  • This is by far one of the most underrated movies ever. I really liked it! I can't wait to see Gilliam's future movie "The man who killed Don Quixote"!!!
