I don't think that Bill Maher is violating free speech in his rant against the birthers. The way to squelch rumours is to hit people with the truth. That's what he was saying.

Also, I'm a bit tired of people who hide behind the banner of free speech in order to tell lies, spread rumours and spout hatred. I know they are protected, but that doesn't mean they're not just a bunch of cowards.

@MrFrankblack2010 it had nothing to do with race. besides, why shouldnt presidents have to prove citizenship? when i joined the marines back in 2002 not only did i have to provide a birth certificate and social security card, i had to provide finger/palm prints, as well as teachers names from grade school and people who had known me for a long time, cant remember how many years it had to be. if as a lowly marine i had to do that then why shouldnt my commander and chief have to do the same

see this is where you get mislead...the certificate he showed is not his birth certificate...it is a certificate of live birth. Also he was adopted in indonesia..giving him citizenship there. Also he traveled to pakastan at a time when not even u.s. diplomats were allowed to enter that country. Finally he spent Millions so far to keep his long form BC and college records sealed. All he has to do is release the docs and we go away...
