Guitar Hero & Rock Band won't teach one to play a musical instrument. But, it may teach one how music basically works. Even better, may inspire one to want to learn to play an instrument and hopefully, keep the art of music from dying!!!

Guitar hero has nothing to do with music. You hit a color coded button when the matching color lines up over a designated space. I'm not saying that isn't fun, but the guitar hero controller is just a controller shaped like a guitar. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the mechanics of playing a real guitar, nor does it have anything to do with playing or reading actual music. Let's see how many people now send me messages telling me to fuck myself. cheers.

But now I don't really play music games anymore because I don't get that same ''climbers high'' as I used to. PS-his son must be really young if my dad was Chris Cornell I'd say screw games ''daddy teach me how to play ''Hungerstrike'' by Temple of a Dog and ''Hunted Down'' and a bunch of other Soundgarden songs. :)

Dude Rockband and Guitar Hero got me into real guitar. Because at some point when you 100% almost every song in the games on expert (ultra hard difficulty) at some point you think ''what now''. Thats what I did. At first the real guitar was 100% different and felt weird, I sucked of course. But over the years I've gotten better and now write music alot and want to start a band some time in the future. If it wasn't for those games I would have never gotten into real guitar playing.

@McGradyBrendan yeah you could of done that with some good old pratice. Sounds like you lack discipline, and that you are easily bored. So all the flashing lights and sound of the video game kept you over stimulated brain occupied enough not to get bored. You comment doesnt prove guitar hero will make you better at guitar, it proves you a lazy dumbass.

@SaypheZonE I dont play video games. But I do like guitar hero, WHY. cause it made kids get back into ROCK music and away from Rap. When I was growing up everybody was listening to Eninem, Juvinile dr dre and lil wayne. I respect it cause its art but rap doesnt do it for me, them old blues players do way more for me and rock came from the blues. Rap was invented because the blues and rock music were stolen from blacks for profit so the black men had to be inovative and come up with rap
