--------

Screen Hinge tightening steps for MacBook Pro 15" 2006 model - same process would apply to most MacBook Pro models uptill end of 2007 with minor assembly changes.
Feel free to ask questions.

Main Tools Needed :
- philips 2.0 screw driver (for the philips head screws- the + headed ones)
- torx T6 screw driver (for the star shape headed screws)
- A plastic prying tool (most needed for pulling apart the screen metal cover) (avoid using a metal pry tool unlike what i have used-it might scratch the metal body if handled roughly)

  • PLEASE BRING THIS VIDEO BACK

  • @trunks2861 Hey..mentioned an alternate link to the same video [with different soundtrack] in the video description above.. Hope it helps..

  • would it be helpful to take the hinge screws out and put a tiny little dab of lock tight on it to prevent this from happening again?

  • @stydel311 ...yes...use of some threadlockers or lock tight would be good here to make it more secured...i did not have any while doing this-so missed...even without that it has stayed sturdy after the tightening-since almost 2 yrs. now...so u would be good to go without it-but if u have it its always best to use them.

  • why didnt you use loctite on the screws to prevent them from backing out in the future?

  • @pwrmacg3 ..yes :O...i missed on this-did not have any around that time....but its always good to use some.

  • You've got to be kidding me.

  • That's like taking the engine out of a car, then taking it apart bit by bit just to change a flat tyre, Fuck that...

Fair play for the video tho, well explained :)

  • Damn I'm just goinna keep my macbook the way it is. It looks hella complicated but you are a genuis!! :)

  • wow that great thank you . do you know about macbook air ?

  • Thank you for this video. I'm having a terrible problem with a loose hinge and didn't know what to do. Now, if I can find the courage or find someone who can take my laptop who knows what they are doing, I might be "back in business!" You have done a wonderful job and are so neat and organized. Very impressive!

  • yeah, i don't think so. I'll probably have extra pieces when i put everything back. if not that, i'll accidentally kick the little pile of a hundred different screws and be s.o.l.

  • i just tried this and broke scows

  • great stuff.

although I pro'ly should have fixed the hinges when I cleaned the fans a few days ago

  • Great guide.

But, am I the only one who's had trouble with two of the T6 screws not coming out?

On both sides, one of the T6 screws (the one that's fatter, and only threaded for about 3mm) just spins freely, but neither tightens nor comes out.

Well...actually, I got the left one out by chance. Now I'm working on the right. I just keep turning it and turning it. Even if I *do* get it out, I'm not able to retighten it in the end.

    Does anyone know about this?

  • I thought this was screen hinge tightening, not disassembling with a ruler...

  • haha music is giorgi moorodor,, midnight express theme :-) classic!
