@friendlier It was an odd gig, I go past the building every day and as I recall it was the first floor of what may have once been a department store with rooms leading to rooms. All empty. Such a long time ago!

@sunbeam11 I know some of Maniacs (I live in Jamestown NY) and they tell that story as being so overwhelmed after years and years of beating their heads against the wall, to finally be in the UK, where so many of their musical idols originated. Apparently they all started bawling!
Not to say that they didn't love their acid as well.

She can really do the Charleston.

I saw them several times in concert back in the day - they always put on a great show. I loved Natalie's energy & passion. As talented as she is, I loved her work with 10,000 Maniacs much better than her solo stuff - Robert Buck really helped create a sound for them.

Like Susan Clark said in "Come From the Heart," you've got to dance like nobody's watching.

Not quite true when I saw them play their first album in a dingy room in south london natalie could not handle the nerves and kept bursting into tears and sitting down on the floor. Mind you they were under rehearsed and some say LSD had a part in the problem. Hard to equate that natalie with Miss Couture Clothes and Haircut she became,
