@BookSharer Yeah, its grit. Its determination. Its that fighting spirit. Its the "don't quit" attitude. Its strength. Its willpower. Its effort. Its struggling. However, one's confidence is usually built up by success and accomplishment. This is where the blessing of God comes in. God's reality is not in a book or even in scientific knowledge which might or might not bring us into awe of the Universal Intelligence. Its personally experiencing HIS intervention.

So why hasn't God's spirit through his word, my prayers and subsequent actions helped me so far?

@DavesHome It has been a good 20 years since I have read this book.
God is spirit, so is your mind and thoughts. It is a matter of being open to ideas that come your way by putting your mind on the good will principle. It also means not to be a complainer, but to take responsibility for every decision you make.
Far too many think of God as a magic Genie, this is incorrect. Its closer to Luke use the force, but for ideas, being the right place at the right time.
It is inner inspirations.

@BookSharer No, I have a sneaky feeling that God does not exist. We have only to use our own mind and energies. However, it does seem that some have "LUCK" while others are "LOSERS". Some are able to curry the favor because of charisma, good looks, self-confidence, the ability to lie with a poker face, some are clever schemers and take advantage of fools who are desperate. Some are well educated but that means they managed to get money behind them to pursue this education.

@DavesHome Throw out religion. But hold to integrity & personal accountability. Make a bet each way. For if lies r your refuge, it might work for a while, but it will catch up to you. We are all gona die. Like a computer program document, if it is not saved when the power goes out its lost.
My concepts of God have changed over the years. I don't believe in superstition or religiousness as I used to. I believe in being in harmony with the life force within, & the energies interactive around us.

@BookSharer My periods of homelessness and my lifelong struggle to get empowerment, my constant unemployment and my "loneliness" have all served to build up my cynicism. God didn't let me down because He doesn't exist. Still, I OWN my life in that I do accept that I have made the decisions that have resulted in my experiences. Still, one must not overlook the fact that some are "rescued" from misery by being taken in. Some get mentoring and others are "blessed" with being born into money.

@DavesHome I do not pray often. When I do it is with full conviction that there will be an answer. There is no doubt when I do. However, prayers are answered based upon my interaction with the omnipresent energy, which is the building blocks of all things, and that includes life. It is far different from me expecting a person God, but more of a force. It is very much me getting in tune with that force.

@DavesHome so Dave it is a matter of looking at things different. The internal emotions, fears, expectations, criticisms, all have an effect. Like hitch hiking, you have to be on the right road and correct side of the road to the flow of traffic. Like in the stream, we do down stream rather than resisting the flow.
The life force is in us all that live. That might be a bit to get your mind around till you start to see with a new attitude. Attitude is 90% of it.
