Frank Ratcliff "just call me Rat" owner of the Riverside Hotel in Clarksdale, Mississippi, tells about the history of each room in his hotel. The Hotel was home to many of the big names in the Delta BLues. Even JFK Jr stayed here.
@theeehorse Yes!!!!! I'm from Clarksdale, Ms. and I grew up in that neighborhood. There are so many famous people who shaped music from Clarksdale, it should be a museum. Sam Cooke, Ike Turner etc... , or listening to my mama tell me about her and tina turner hanging out... I'm sorry mama- I meant to say anna mae-(lol)
We spent 2 nights in room n. 10, the last one (missing in this video). It was the greatest experience in my last trip in USA. I can't wait to see Rat and Frank again. Mojo & Boogie from Italy
My wife and I toured Sun Studio in Memphis, TN before heading down the blues highway to Clarksdale, MS and then to New Orleans, LA. While in Clarksdale we stopped in to take a photo of this little hotel that had a lot of character. We met Rat and he showed us around and made it feel like a prequel to Sun Studio. Rocket 88 put Sun Studio on the map and was written at this little unassuming hotel. Rat is a great guy and we plan to be back for a nights stay in the future.
Spent an hour with Rat this past weekend. He is so full of pride and dignity, respect and honor. It was really moving. He has a full appreciation for the fact that he, himself, is a living part of history.
I was shown round by this great friendly guy in Nov 2007 including John lees old room when he stayed there. Was it True? Felt like it I can tell you. It's DIFFERENT inside that place. I wanna go back soon.

I stayed in what I called the "closet" it was a small room nestled amongst the others. Too bad he didn't show it in this video. It was cozy.
