Here's what I do when I feed maggots to very small and scared spiderlings; in order to prevent the maggot from digging in, I clip its side with a pair of scissors so that the maggot's insides spill out a little. Than I leave the maggot in front/ near the spiderling. Most of the time the spiderling is too scared to eat right away but later, I always find the tiny spider feasting on the agonizing/dead maggot. Next day I remove the maggot. 2 days later I do the same. My spiderlings love this!

i think there are many types of mites so it's hard to tell. You should take a picture and ask on arachnoboards . com
