@Hakkun9872 It's a matter of starting battles with enemies with blank graphics and then killing them off as you introduce the actual enemies via battle animations.

Hm, I still don't understand how you got the Trainer graphic throwin the pokeball and stuff. Can you be more clear on that?

@Hakkun9872 I started out by having the trainer(as a monster) on the battlefield at the start of the battle and the actual Pokemon as invisible enemies. I then put together some battle animations such as the pokeball being thrown/opening and one of the Feraligatr coming out and roaring. Once the Feraligatr animation was complete, I made the hidden enemy visible and then inflicted death upon the trainer sprite so that it would be removed from battle.
Really nothing fancy at all.
