Anton's Adventures, At The Bone Church, Kutna Hora

This is part 2 of 3 in the Anton's Adventures in Prague series. In this episode I take a train from Prague to Kutna Hora to visit a church that is decorated with the skeletons and skulls of forty thousand human bodies, who died in the plague in the 14th century. Then I get lost in town for a while like usual.

LOL, so funny, your facial expressions!

From memory, they used to bury people and once the flesh had rotted away they woul inter the bones in the gateway of churchyards.

In the case of Kutna Hora, they wanted to build a new church, so took the bones of the nobles in the graveyard to build an underground chapel, to still honor them though there was no room, due to the extensions, to keep them buried in the chapel graveyard.

The bone church was quite interesting, though somewhat creepy. It's always fun exploring isn't it... sometimes a path leads to something exciting, and sometimes not... but it's fun nonetheless.
