Feelings are expression of self-reflection not statements on actuality. I know, this sounds very flimsy, but it has helped myself quite a lot.

You deny the power of interpretation? The almost infinite complexity of the world & society means that it can be interpreted differently to the same degree. The act of perception is itself an act of interpretation. On which depends the action people take. The way people act depends on their experience, which depends on their theoretical framework(implied or explicit). Marx's false consciousness is simply people not having the 'right' ideas or perception. Action is useless in the face of ideology

@Malthus0 "mould young minds' says it all. You could do with reading The German Ideology, comrade. People with 'ideas' have only interpreted the world and wanked themselves off in the process. The point is to change it with concrete practical action by those whose interest it is to do so.

"...as long, therefore, as activity is not voluntarily, but naturally, divided, man’s own deed becomes an alien power opposed to him, which enslaves him instead of being controlled by him. For as soon as the distribution of labour comes into being, each man has a particular, exclusive sphere of activity, which is forced upon him and from which he cannot escape. He is a hunter, a fisherman, a herdsman, or a critical critic, and must remain so if he does not want to lose his means of livelihood."

Why watch you? Because you're interesting and you're pretty. But I think I'm stating the obvious here.

Jess, You really need to stop smoking the whacky-backey if you want ANY chance of escaping your depression. I know you find it hard to stop but why are you smoking AGAIN when you know what it does to you? Depression can be linked to cannabis, especially due to stronger versions like skunk being distributed, and not least due to all the other toxic crap they add to it these days.

I know exactly what you mean about the 9-5. From day one I dreaded the thought of it. That's why I decided to be self employed when I grow up. I just die inside when I have to work for some heartless corporation that I despise. I am hoping to make some pathetic amount of money working freelance, and hoping desperately that I will enjoy that, but doubting that I could ever really enjoy any kind of work. I also dream of being a smallholder and just living off the land. :)

I <3 your jumper. When it comes to self esteem and relationships, I agree you must sort yourself out before you can get into a relationship, or at least you must make a little progress towards it. I used to go round the internet looking for self help websites and meditation techniques. I found that kind of thing helpful. Little rituals like looking in the mirror and saying something good about yourself. Excercising your imagination to build up your desired ego. :)

Why do we watch you? Believe it or not, when you talk to the camera, and your "human feeling" travels over the internet to your viewers, we build up a sort of relationship.
Granted, this virtual relationship may not be reciprocated like a traditional interpersonal relationship. That's probably why you question if we care.
After watching and critically entertaining your ideas for long enough, our brains begin to acclimate to your persona, similar to as if were actually getting to know you.

the most constructive activity for me in regards to self-esteem is exercise. Both running and lifting-though cardio seems more useful overall. Energy level seems to be a big factor for me and self-esteem, and therefore it helps when im in shape. Otherwise, ive had good experiences with volunteering and self-esteem, but not in all volunteering. FOr example, if the volunteer position consists of me mainly just sitting there and not doing anything, i dont get any good feeling. has to be active.
Protests are not ''Hands on changing the word''. They are the tool of the powerless & sidelined. What really changes the world is ideas, so it is not as if it is not possible to merge that ambition with a career path. For example as university lecturer one can mould young minds while making money,& learning, thinking what you like for life rather then submitting to mindless toil. With the added possibility of using your knowledge & authority to change the climate of ideas & therefore society.

@Malthus0 When I was talking about it I definitely put protest under the 'useless' category, along with YouTube, notably. =P
