More digging from 2006. The last site is in center city Lancaster. We went to a professional dig and offered our input. Both sides learned much.
The sad part was that the block across the street was being bulldozed by a political renovation project. Perhaps if the location and information on the excavated privy pits in the area had been recorded, the State could have required a proper archaeological exploration of the block.
The music track was two cuts from a 1939 Bunny Berigan broadcast. This originated from the Manhattan Center in New York on September 26, 1939. While this is a year or so after his best band, but it still shows how wonderfully he connected with the audience.
In looking for pictures of Bunny, I went to a 1939 book. It was a 10th Anniversary publication from the Valencia ballroom in York Pa. Thats where the picture at the start came from.
In doing this, I became aware of how locally historic this significant book is. I have a copy containing many autographs. I will begin photographing the pages and make it into a future video.
