Pilot pulls up landing gear while on runway

It just looks like he was going for a high angle of attack on take off like fighters normally do. I think his engine failed, or didn't provide the lift it should have, and he descended back onto the runway.

Always check and make sure your gear lever is in the DOWN position before you take off.
A safety "squat switch" prevents the gear from raising when the weight of the plane is on it. The safety is there in case of inadvertent selection of GEAR UP while on the ramp or taxi. Once the weight of the aircraft is removed, the gear will operate as selected.
This pilot simply took off with the gear lever in the up position, as soon as the weight was removed, the gear raised as designed.

How do you explain that one?!?!?

The nose lifted off so he thought 'I'm up' and hit 'retract', but he forgot the tailpipes were back below him

I was trying to decide which I should feel sorry for; the plane or the dumb ass pilot. The plane got my vote.

I saw this happen years ago when a hot shot twin engined prop driver was showing off for his girlfriend in Indianapolis Eagle Creek. He had put the gear switch in the up position but midway through his takeoff, his lift was blanketed by trees on either side of the runway. Oops. No one was hurt but man did that woman take off running and screaming; in high heels too.

@TakeDeadAim I'm a flight instructor and I just wanted to chime in and say you're stupid. LOL. Yea I anticipated the green light but oops hit three nuns crossing the road. There is no excuse for an error like that, especially as a military pilot flying a multi-million dollar aircraft.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Russian bobsleigh team.

I don't have much sympathy for this level of unforced error. But there's a lesson in this for us mere GA pilots. There are no old bold pilots.....
