AMAZING ALBUM!!!

"it's a far more sophisticated song than anything they'd come"
Baloney. You don't know what you're talking about. Try listening to Los Lobos.

Tom Snyder...

"ever since the watermelon" is a paul simon line -- he's written like fifty hit songs, the notion that he needed to steal one is rediculous
-
y would paul simon have to steal ANYONES songs?!?!?!?!?!?! paul simon is an extremely talented person and wouldn't NEED to steal anyones work.

Sorry people, but this supposed controversy in which Paul Simon is the villain simply does not have the ring of truth to it. After all, Simon is a prolific songwriter who has to his credit many extraordinary, deep, and tuneful songs. He hardly needs to steal material from others! Moreover, the lyrics, with many obscure references, are typical Paul Simon. And of course it's going to sound like Los Lobos - after all, they play on the damned track!

EVER SINCE THE WATERMELON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

surely it's a tribute to los lobos - not a copy? with new yorkish lyrics tagged on? let's face it, it's a far more sophisticated song than anything they'd come with unless paul simon wrote it. so what's the point of suing?
Supposedly Los Lobos wrote this song, there was a lot of controversy over it when Graceland was released.

Apparently Los Lobos showed this song to Paul and when the album came out, it said "Words and Music" by Paul Simon, and Los Lobos contacted him about compensation, and he said, "Sue me. See what happens." I have heard that Paul is a weird guy, but he is talented.
