"Alien" was a remake of this move. There are a number of similarities, including the scene with the guy in the ventilator shaft, and the way the alien was killed. Both are great movies though. This one scared the dogwater out of me when I was a kid.

This is a truly great Sci Fi Classic. I remember that like the original ''The Thing" it scared the hell out of me as a young kid. It shows just how effective and essential good writing is. Even with a modest budget, this film has been cited by Ridey Scott as a major influence on the original "Alien, as well as other Sci Fi films. Wrting is everything. Brilliant! Thanks for posting..

Don't compare this cheap trash to legendary Alien. Ridley Scott never heard about this movie when he was making his Alien and the main script writer of alien was influenced by another book
