North Shields is a town on the north bank of the River Tyne, in the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside,in the UK. It is located 13 km east of Newcastle upon Tyne. It has a population of 39,042.

Its name derives from Middle English schele meaning 'temporary sheds or huts (used by fishermen)' and still today, the area is synonymous with fishing and other trades associated with seafaring.

Here I go on a short walk through the town centre.

Clean streets with attractive old buildings. Lovely floral displays. Gorgeous views of the river in lovely sunny weather. A fine place to visit when I get the chance one day.
