Unlike the original Paper Mario, the badges in Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door aren't completely fixed. That is, if the player wants to have many copies of one badge (like 6 HP Pluses) he or she can do so.

Almost every stackable badge can be gotten in multiple quantities. Much more regarding this topic can be found here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/920182-paper-mario-the-thousand-year-door/5331...

Now, this video shows me attempting to badge hunt a Charge or Charge P badge. Here was my procedure:
1. Load game at Twilight Town
2. Fight the three Hyper Goombas on the Twilight Trail
3. If no badge is acquired, restart game and try again (X+B+Start can be used to restart gamecube games easily)

I'll be perfectly honest when I think I'm missing something. I had at least four Last Stand/Last Stand P badges drop from the enemies, but I never got any Charge badges. Hopefully somebody can help shed light this, because if the answer is that I'm unlucky I won't be happy.

I do make some progress in this video. First:
1. I pick up Item Hog (Rumor has it this helps with badge rate drops)
2. I venture into the Twilight Trail
3. I save at the nearest save point to try my procedure v. Hyper Clefts (I still fail)

The Twilight Trail is an easy place to get lost; Mario has to enter the background in many screens to advance to the next screen. The place may appear to be peaceful, for until you find that the flowers are trying to knock you asleep and the rocks are charging at you.

Even though the whole episode is about Badge Hunting, I do get a Hammer Throw. Need to attack one specific enemy with pin-point accuracy? Using a Hammerman setup? Hammer Throw is the badge for you!

  • Oh yeah, did you know that jumping in the well at the front of Creepy Steeple makes the Hyper Cleft respawn? That's much quicker than resetting.

  • @avengah That is a good suggestion. However, I was trying to keep my level honest. If I would have done that I would have a level 18 Mario with the amount of time I spent hunting for the charge badge.
