You spin me right round, baby
Right round like a record, baby
Right round, round, round.

im sure you know this, but if you put a little prop perpendicular to that it wont spin in circles

I am very happy to see the vidoe foam sheet to act as prop shroud and duct. Big improvement in stability, but now it's clear that this motor set can't generate sufficient lift to get above ground effect from you, hopefully the others also are happy for You

what motor is that and where can i buy one ?
is that a bluetooth control module?

No - it's Wifi

I deleted xWoolvzx's comment by accident -
"try adding a tail rotor to counteract the need to spin and also u can make it speed up or slow down by control then it'd actually turn"
There is actually no need for a tail rotor - spinning can be controlled by differentially setting the speed of the two motors, but a yaw gyro is needed to detect the spin and generate the error correction.

I worked on this technology in the early 90's. A cowl with an absolute minimal gap will increase your thrust dramatically, particularly when you leave ground effect. That is, when the height of the props above ground are .5 times their length.
The gap between the tip of the prop and the cowl should be as close to zero as possible. For efficiency Hiller tacked carpet to his prop tips so there was essentially no space at all. Love seeing someone take this up again. Keep it going!

Thanks for the comments. Definitely, a duct is helpful, plus it alleviates a saftey issue. Main problem when I last worked on this was that my smaller motors were the right weight but didn't have enough power (1400kV winding needed to be more like 900-1000kV), and my larger motors were too heavy so flight time was short. Also, the control linkage for the battery weight shift was very sloppy. If I can get the right motors, I'll take another run at this.

nice work with the duct how goes it , and why does it rotate?
leviterande 3 years ago
The duct does help to create a more stable air flow. The rotation is caused by not having the two counter-rotating motors completely in sync, though you can see at the end that this is brought under control.
