Charles Banks Wilson was born in Springdale, Arkansas and grew up in the further-most part of the Ozarks in Miami, Oklahoma. From the Ozarks, Wilson built a national reputation as one of Americas great artists.
A great achievement of Charles was illustrating over 65 pure blood Indians representative of their respective tribes. Mr. Wilson was also a renowned portrait artist of individuals such as Will Rogers, Jim Thorpe, Woody Guthrie and his life long friend Thomas Hart Benton. Seven of his portraits hang in the Oklahoma State Capitol.
