@uTubeFreak4eva When Jane says she is a "cripple" she means her physical condition.When Richard is say he is "crippled" he is referring to his emotional condition. He doesn't know how to love another person because he is unable to love himself. Therefore he doesn't want to make love to Jane not because she us ugly or handicapped but because he wouldn't want to taint her idea of what sex is like or ruin her first and perhaps only time because he wouldn't be able to give her the love she wants.
