Leaving from Bowes I explore the castle, a late 12th century keep and give some history on its use. I follow the Bowes Loop portion of the Pennine Way over the hills on an extremely windy day before seeking refuge in a shelter. Returning to Bowes I once again look at the castle and give some more history.

  • glad to see you back on here with anther great video,, what do you do about water on your hikes ?? do you carry what you need or do you use something like a travel tap ??.

  • @Brasso182 I generally just carry water in a standard Nalgene when I'm hiking in the UK. It's usually easy to carry all the water you'll need for the day. Often I'll drink straight from a stream, which I know you're not supposed to do, but it's not hurt me yet. When I'm on longer hikes I carry a pump

  • We don't have much in the way of castles over here in Tennessee, U.S.A. : ) Even in the state of the structure it is still magnificent.

Great tour & narration as always. Thanks for taking me on a quick vacation.

  • @CampfireTalk Yeah, it's a pretty cool castle, and I didn't even have to go out of the way of the hike. I'm hoping to do some filming of a castle near where I live soon, but it's not been open over Christmas.

I've spent a lot of time in eastern Virginia on the Appalachian Trail and I do love hiking there too!

  • Thanks for the video Daniel Nice to see you back on the Pennine way

  • Boxing Day in Bowes. Can't think where you would rather be! Great to see you back on The Way Daniel. Looking forward to Cauldron Snout and The Cheviots. The Olympic Flame is heading to London. DS is back, heading to Kirk Yetholm. Who will arrive first??? PS Look up "The Farmhouse" B&B in Kirk Yetholm - that would be a fitting reward for a great achievement. Have a happy new year.
