IB Theory of Knowledge presentation on the failure trends of teen dating. I believe we titled it "The Biological, Sociological, and Linguistic Explanations of the Failure of Teenage Relationships". I'm not completely sure, to be quite honest.
All the footage was shot in one day (which would explain my lack in wardrobe variation), with the exception of the classroom/hallway sequence. I spent over seven hours editing this sucker, namely because the software I'm using decided to act up on me. There were supposed to be some text graphics/sound effects/etc., but things just weren't working out.
For those of you using Sony Vegas 8, the program may:
1) Stop importing clips.
2) Freeze out of nowhere.
3) Crash sporadically.
4) Decide not to render.
*NOTE: I found that changing the settings on your computer to only use two processors works to temporarily regain functionality. (Run → msconfig → Boot → Advanced options → Number of processors → 2 → Restart computer) Although this does not solve the problem completely, it's useful if you're in a time-crunch situation.
So... after two freaking hours of technical difficulties (at 3 A.M., mind you... [Hey! I should have the right to complain.]), I became quite frustrated and, in a sheer act of desperation, finished editing the video using Windows Live Movie Maker. (Different than Windows Movie Maker.) PLEASE, if your respect yourself at all, do NOT use this. It's a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE "editing" program. I suppose it suffices for EXTREMELY basic editing needs, but it's very limited in its capabilities, the interface is not practical (there isn't even a timeline), and it places fraction-of-a-second gaps between each of your shots. (From 7:35 onward is the part that I had to edit using WLMM. I think it's fairly evident.)
I finally was able to render the video by downloading a trial version of Sony Vegas 9. Temporary solution, I know, but it's the best I could do. I just tacked on the second part and was forced to cut out about a minute of footage due to YouTube's time limit. (Which, by the way, is 10:59:59...) I would have re-edited the second part so it looked nicer and gone back to adjust audio levels/add stuff, but I was afraid the program would crash on me again. So I just went straight to rendering after fulfilling the bare minimum.
I had more to say about this, but I seem to have forgotten. (This is the second time I'm writing a description. Last night, I tried uploading to YouTube, and after FIVE hours of waiting, the upload failed. I'm trying again, this time, NINE hours, so... hopefully it works.)
Well, while making this video, we discovered a few things:
1) Aundrey cannot become an actor.
2) Vaca is not good at following instructions. (Bloopers to come... maybe?)
3) Saki needs a haircut.
4) Coffee does not help keep me awake.
HOPE YOU ENJOY!

Are you guys from Utah? Because I saw BYU in 1:27. Just wondering

@mrkarlramirez
We're actually located in Southern California. That shot was taken in the classroom of the teacher who also advises College Club, so there are quite a few pennants up on that wall. :)

hi sorry
what mark did you get for this presentation
and can you give any tips?

@tinksplus
To be honest, I can't remember what our exact score was (I was just so relieved to get it done), but it definitely passed. However, our presentation wasn't purely showing the video - we had to elaborate and explain after the fact and take any questions from our audience.
Tips would be to start early (basically a tip for ANY assignment, but I know how tough that can be for IB students... ;b), pick a topic you're really interested in, and do research beforehand. Good luck!

CRAP! MAJOR blunder...
Audio at 3:27 is messed up. (Obviously.)
Shoot. This only happened when I had to cut a minute out. The original video was fine. Pooop.
Well, this is embarrassing.
