The impressive Corbett handles a befuddled Fields with relative ease to win the WW championship of the world. Corbett was a great fighter, only ever stopped once at the weight by the timless Jimmy McLarnin, shows himself a cleverer fighter than he is generally given credit for, boxing mostly off the back-foot and bringing Fields onto some truly crushing straight lefts out of the southpaw-stance. Jackie shows great determination trying to get inside and force himself onto the fight.
Hello from California. My grandfather, Ralph Manfredo, was Corbett's manager / trainer. He passed away a year later in 1934. Obviously I never met him, and my mother was only three when he died. In the footage you posted my mother and I can clearly see him, he is in the near left corner of the ring.
Would you be able to put the footage to dvd and do you have anything from between the rounds? It would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS for posting this. It was a great surprise.
