Hey there!

This is Chopins famous Fantasie Impromptu in C sharp minor, Op. 66. Owing to the problem that I am not able to memorize all 3 movements of Beethovens Moonlight Sonata in time for my Christmas recital, my piano teacher and I decided instead that it would be much easier to practice this piece together with Haydns Sonata in E minor (all 3 movements) for the recital.

This is yet another recording which was made possible with the help of Matt. You might notice though that the sounds issuing from the piano strings are rather different than my previous recordings. This is because the piano we used this time was a Yamaha upright piano (my piano teachers piano), instead of a Steinway and Sons grand piano. I initially recorded it with my video camera on my 30+ year old Yamaha upright piano, but the audio quality was atrocious; so many buzzes, and the dynamics were so badly captured that I had to redo it in my piano teachers house with proper recording devices. I would like to make a big shout-out to Matt again for helping me to produce this video.

I would like to dedicate this video to ALL of you! Yes, all of you!!! Merry Christmas 2009, and happy holidays!!! Hope you enjoy my interpretation of this piece. ^______^

So, with the year drawing to an end, this is my repertoire for this year:

1.George Gershwin - Preludes No. 1 and No. 3
2.J.S. Bach - Italian Concerto Presto BWV 971 (Movement III)
3.W.A. Mozart - Sonata No. 4 in E flat major
4.Chopin - Nocturne No. 20 in C sharp minor
5.Schubert - Impromptu Op. 90 No. 2 in E flat major
6.Chopin - Scherzo No. 2 in B flat minor, Op. 31
7.Rachmaninoff - Prelude in C sharp minor No.2
8.Joseph Haydn Sonata in E minor, Hob. XVI/34
9.Chopin Fantasie Impromptu in C sharp minor, Op. 66

The repertoire list above only includes piano solo pieces. Symphonies, cantatas, concertos, etc. which encompass both the piano and the orchestra are not listed above.

  • Your rendition of the son is so incredibly wonderful. It feels as though my body hollows and becomes a chamber of echoing music, if that makes any sense, as I listen (which is an extremely good feeling).

I adore how at some parts, the song feels as though it should sound of chaos and messiness, but somehow, it does not, and instead it feels like beauty and passion.

Thank you for this contribution to the music community - for sharing your talents with us! I really appreciate it! :)
