To Create A New World Without AIDS
(Reflections about the documentary "Them + Us = All", realized by the Love Conquers AIDS team.)
The movie " Them + Us = All " is a serious analysis, with arguments and with striking facts from life, also, which let to the onlookers a deep feeling of faith in the man's power of conquering this global disease. The accents are put on the moral aspect educative aspect.
The doctors being helpless, during 20 years, to discover a medicine more or less efficient against the virus, the producers of the movie appeal to the conscience of each onlooker, to his spirit, to the need of doing a more rigorous selection of values from which each of us follow his life, in the options he is making every day.
In the essence the problem of saving of AIDS is reduced to this option, at first view elementary: desire and love. The modern man arrived at a stage of evolution in which he must be able to control his desire for love. The movie demonstrates evidently that so called "risk groups" form people who give up too easy to their desires, they do not believe too much in love and they do not accept the sacrifices that it needs.
In a few words, the movie let nobody indifferent. Neither the intellectual, nor the worker or pupil. The information, which is presented, is distributed on all the levels. The people, who do not seem sensitive to the ideas said by the teacher Prisacari or the doctor Chiriac, are captivated and deeply impressed by the realistic images, almost "natural", taken by the cameraman. And the few words said by the victims, without chance of salvation, of AIDS, which show despair and a deep pain, but also an equally powerful aspiration to another life, to another values, are testimonies which wake in us, the ones who are healthy, a great joy, and a warning about our lives, too.
Although the movie has a strange tonality, it is not pessimist, but it contains an idea, which mobilizes and leads to action. This movie must be seen by anyone, from children to grown-ups, because, it talks about us, about our common home, about the problems which affects a part of our body, from the heritage of nations.
The producers seem to tell us: we can all create a new world here, at our homes. When somebody of us suffers, we must give him an urgent help, in order that the pain does not spread.
Most of us think that the danger of HIV/ AIDS can hurt the others, and we do our daily things, without knowing that in reality the epidemics has a spread so big that it does not compare with other disease. The producers of the movie think that there is no strongest and treacherous danger than the one, which destroys the immunity of the organism. The immunity of the physical body comes from our spiritual force and from our moral values, from our capacity of loving and of sacrificing for each other.
AIDS can be compared with an iceberg in the ocean: only a little part is seen- the others parts are hidden in a lot of people, for that in time to come out, because the symptoms of the disease appear after five years from the moment of getting the virus.
At the end the documentary talks to us about two associations: Anti AIDS Association from Moldova and the Philanthropist Association IRFF ONLUS, which together started a program of cultural activities, literary and educational for making the youth aware of the danger of AIDS and of the education of the teenagers in the spirit of a healthier way of life, which prevents the possibility of infection with HIV.
The authors plead for an information and education campaign more vast, which would be spread in all counties of the republic and which would put an accent on the "awareness". In other words, using the metaphor of the professor Viorel Prisacaru, "to respond to the AIDS epidemics with an HIV/AIDS prevention information epidemics", and so to control more efficiently this awful scourge of the modern society.
